What is Share Trading?

A share represents a fractional claim on a publicly listed company. Share trading means buying and selling those claims on major exchanges — NYSE, NASDAQ, LSE, XETRA — to profit from price movement, dividends, or both.

How share CFDs work

A share CFD tracks the price of a real equity without transferring ownership. Going long profits from rising prices; short from falling. CFDs let you use leverage and short-sell without borrowing stock.

Types of shares

  • US tech & mega-caps — Apple (AAPL), Tesla (TSLA), NVIDIA (NVDA), Microsoft. Deepest liquidity on NYSE & NASDAQ.
  • UK blue-chips — BP, Vodafone, HSBC, Shell. Dividend-heavy FTSE 100 names.
  • European majors — SAP, Volkswagen, LVMH, Siemens. Traded on XETRA, Euronext and other EU venues.

What moves share prices?

  • Earnings & guidance — quarterly results and forward outlooks drive the biggest moves.
  • Sector & macro — rates, sector rotation, AI themes and commodity cycles.
  • Flows & news — M&A, upgrades/downgrades, insider selling and index rebalancing.

Trading shares as CFDs

At Clarity you trade shares as CFDs — no custody, no clearing fees, no cross-border admin. CFDs let you go long or short with leverage and receive cash dividend adjustments on long positions.

Is share trading right for you?

Single stocks can gap sharply on earnings and news — most retail CFD traders lose money. Suited to those who can research companies and handle overnight risk. Practice on a free demo account before going live.

Frequently Asked Questions.

Can I go long and short on shares?

Yes. Share CFDs let you speculate on price increases (long) or decreases (short) without owning the underlying equity.

Do I receive dividends on share CFDs?

You may receive dividend adjustments if you hold positions during ex-dividend dates. Short positions may incur a corresponding debit.

What leverage is available on shares?

Up to 1:5 on all share CFDs. Final leverage depends on jurisdiction and client classification.

What are the trading hours?

Share CFDs follow the trading hours of their underlying exchange. Check MT5 contract specs for details.

Is there a commission on shares?

Share CFDs carry a 0.1% commission per side on both Standard and Pro accounts.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs.
