Non-farm payrolls (NFP)

Headline read on the US labour market. Drives USD volatility across the FX board and feeds straight through to gold and US indices in the minutes after release.

Consumer prices (CPI)

The inflation print central banks anchor decisions to. Surprise prints reset rate-cut expectations and re-price USD, EUR, GBP and bond-sensitive indices.

Central bank decisions

Rate decisions and guidance from the Fed, the ECB and the BoE. Typically the largest single movers for their currency, its indices and gold in any given cycle.

Gross domestic product (GDP)

Slower-burn than CPI or NFP, but the baseline read on growth. Quarterly revisions can shift the macro narrative for weeks.

Purchasing managers (PMI)

Forward-looking activity gauge from manufacturing and services. The 50 line separates expansion from contraction; sharp moves reprice growth bets.

Retail sales

A monthly read on consumer spending, the largest part of most economies. Big misses move the currency and the indices most exposed to the consumer.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs.
