Margin, spreads, orders, sessions and how execution works.

22What is margin and how is it calculated?

Margin is the required funds to open a position, calculated as: (price × volume) ÷ leverage. For example, 1 lot of EUR/USD at 1.1000 with 1:500 leverage requires $220 margin. Figures are illustrative — live values vary with market pricing.

23What are your margin call and stop-out levels?

Margin call at 100% margin level; stop-out at 50%. At stop-out, positions may be closed automatically starting with the largest losing position.

24When does the Forex market open and close?

The Forex market opens Sunday ~22:00 GMT and closes Friday ~22:00 GMT, rolling through Sydney, Tokyo, London, and New York sessions.

25Can I trade on weekends?

Crypto CFDs trade 24/7 with brief daily maintenance windows. All other markets — FX, indices, commodities, shares — close from Friday evening to Sunday evening (specific session times vary by instrument). Weekend price moves can produce gaps when markets reopen.

26What is slippage?

Execution at a different price than requested due to market movement or volatility. This is common around major news events and during low liquidity periods.

27Why do spreads widen during news events?

Liquidity providers temporarily reduce quoted size around major economic releases (NFP, CPI, central bank decisions) to manage their own risk. With less depth in the market, the bid-ask gap widens. Spreads typically normalize within minutes once volume returns.

28Are stop-loss and take-profit orders guaranteed at the level I set?

No. Stops and limits act as triggers — once price reaches the level, a market order is sent at the next available bid or ask. In fast markets or after a price gap, fills can be worse than your requested level (slippage).

29What is a trailing stop?

A stop-loss that follows price as it moves in your favour to help protect gains. It only ratchets forward and never moves backwards.

30Why was my order rejected or requoted?

Common causes: insufficient free margin, the symbol being outside its trading session, the order distance falling inside the symbol's minimum stops, or the order size exceeding the maximum allowed volume. Specific error codes appear in MT5's Journal tab.

31Are dividend adjustments applied on share and index CFDs?

Yes. When the underlying share or index goes ex-dividend, long positions are credited and short positions debited the dividend amount, with applicable withholding tax. Adjustments appear in your account history.

32Why is there triple swap on Wednesdays?

Spot FX has T+2 settlement. Wednesday positions carry weekend interest charges, hence the triple (3×) swap rate.

33Is there a maximum number of open positions?

Up to 200 simultaneous open positions or pending orders per trading account. This is a platform-level safeguard against runaway Expert Advisors.

34Why was my account flagged as hyperactive?

Hyperactive status applies when a single account exceeds approximately 3,000 server requests per day, usually caused by an Expert Advisor polling tick data too aggressively. It does not affect trading, but our team may reach out to discuss EA settings.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs.
