Reading the impact column

High Impact

Major releases that move major pairs, indices and gold. Position size down or stand aside.

Medium Impact

Notable releases that can shift sentiment intraday but rarely break technical levels alone.

Low Impact

Background data points. Useful context for the broader narrative, limited direct volatility.

Major releases at a glance

The events that move FX, indices and gold. Know the timing, know the asymmetry.

NFP

Headline read on the US labour market. Drives USD volatility across the FX board and feeds straight through to gold and US indices in the minutes after release.

CPI

The inflation print central banks anchor decisions to. Surprise prints reset rate-cut expectations and re-price USD, EUR, GBP and bond-sensitive indices.

FOMC / Fed

Rate decisions, dot plot and the Powell press conference. Typically the largest single mover for USD, US indices and gold in any given cycle.

ECB / BoE

Rate paths and forward guidance for the eurozone and UK. Drives EUR and GBP crosses, with knock-on flow into DAX, CAC and FTSE.

GDP

Slower-burn than CPI or NFP, but the baseline read on growth. Quarterly revisions can shift the macro narrative for weeks.

PMI

Forward-looking activity gauge from manufacturing and services. The 50 line separates expansion from contraction; sharp moves reprice growth bets.
