How to open an account.

This guide covers opening a Clarity account for the first time. What to have ready, the sign-up form, choosing an account type, proving who you are, and what happens next. For people who have never traded.

What you need in hand.

What to have ready before you start. A demo needs only the first item.

An email address you can open right now.

For a live account, a photo ID: a passport, national ID card or driving licence.

Proof of your address dated within the last three months: a utility bill or bank statement.

A home address outside the United States, Canada and any country under sanctions (explained below).

No card and no money: you add money only after a live account is approved.

A demo needs only the email address and skips the identity check. A live account needs the two documents as well. Sanctions are bans on dealing with a country, set by the UN, EU, UK or OFAC, a US government office. Not sure about your country? Ask support first.

Sign up, step by step.

One form starts both a demo and a live account. It takes about three minutes and asks for no card.

01

Fill in three fields. About 3 minutes

Enter your name, your email address and your date of birth. Later, your ID must match what you type here, so check the spelling.

02

Choose demo or live.

A demo is a practice account. You get practice money and trade at real market prices. It needs only your email. A live account uses your own money and needs an identity check.

03

Sign-up is done when you can log in to Clarity. For a demo, an email brings your MetaTrader 5 (MT5) login. MT5 is the app you trade on. Live accounts have one more step.

04

Upload your documents. Usually cleared in 1 working day

Live only; a demo skips this. Upload a photo ID and proof of address. The next two sections cover which documents count and how long the check takes.

Which account type?

Start on Standard. A spread is the gap between the buy and sell prices; a pip is a tiny price step.

 What you payWho it suits
StandardA spread of 0.8 pips on major (most traded) FX pairs, nothing added. No commission (a separate fee per trade).A first account. The spread is the whole cost, so there is one number to watch.
ProA narrower raw spread plus $3 per lot per side: $3 to open, $3 to close, $6 in all.Later, once you trade often. The spread is narrower, but you pay the commission on top.
Pro Plus$3 per side, plus a rebate of $1 to $2 on every lot of FX and metals you trade. For heavy traders, later. You start unranked; your rebate level is reviewed at month end. Not on demo.
FX is foreign exchange: trading one currency against another. A lot is a unit of trade size. A raw spread has nothing added. A rebate is money paid back.

Prove who you are.

Live accounts only; a demo skips this. Two documents, one check, usually cleared within one working day.

01

Upload a photo ID.

A passport, national ID card or driving licence. It must be in date and show your full name and date of birth clearly.

02

Upload proof of address.

A utility bill or bank statement dated within the last three months. It must show your name and your full home address.

03

Upload them on the site.

Log in to Clarity and upload both documents there. Type the site address yourself; do not follow a link in a message. Clarity never asks for your password or a one-time code.

04

Wait for the check. Usually 1 working day

Most checks clear within one working day. Done when you are approved; then you can add money. If it has been more than two working days, message support.

Why documents come back.

Sometimes a document is sent back. Four common reasons, each with a fix. Upload again once fixed. Nobody is judging you.

Blurry, or a corner missing.

The check needs to read the whole document. Take the photo again with all of it in the frame, then upload it.

Expired.

The document must be valid. Use a current one. If your only photo ID has expired, use another type from the list above.

Details do not match.

The name and address on the document must match the details on your account. Check both, then upload again. If something on your account is wrong, ask the support desk.

Part of it covered.

A finger or a sticker can hide a detail the check needs. Take the photo again with nothing over the document.

What happens after approval.

Your live account is open. Three things come next. Take them at your own pace; there is no rush.

Add money.

Deposit by card, e-wallet (an online payment account), bank transfer or crypto. Clarity charges no deposit fee. The How to deposit guide covers every method, with minimums and timings.

Get MetaTrader 5.

MT5 is the free app you trade on: desktop, phone or browser. It is the same on demo and live. Get it from the MT5 page, then log in.

Place one small trade.

The final guide covers a first trade of 0.01 lots, the smallest size, with a stop-loss. A stop-loss closes the trade at a set price to limit loss.

Questions about opening an account.

The things first-time applicants ask, including the ones people feel awkward asking. If yours is not here, ask support.

01Do I need ID for a demo?
No. A demo needs only an email address: no card, no deposit and no ID. It skips the identity check. You upload a photo ID and proof of address only when you add a live account.
02Can I hold a demo and a live account at the same time?
Yes. Open a demo first and add a live account later, or run both. Both run on MetaTrader 5, the same app, so the screens do not change when you switch. Only the money does: practice money on demo, your own on live.
03Is Clarity available in my country?
Clarity is not available in the United States, Canada, or any country under UN, EU, UK or OFAC sanctions. If you are unsure, ask support before you sign up. Clarity checks where you live when you sign up. The full terms are on the legal documents page.
04Will anyone from Clarity contact me after I sign up?
Possibly. Clarity may contact you about your account. Clarity also works with partners who are paid to introduce new clients, and one may get in touch. Nobody genuine asks for your password or a code, asks you to pay them directly, or offers to trade for you. If a call or message does that, stop and contact the support desk yourself.
05How is my information protected?
Your details travel encrypted: scrambled so nobody else can read them on the way. That covers the website and MetaTrader 5, which talks only to servers Clarity runs. Your money is held in segregated accounts, kept legally separate from Clarity's own. Clarity never asks for your password or a one-time code by email, phone or message. On your side, start with a password you use nowhere else.
06Who regulates Clarity?
The Financial Services Commission (FSC) of Mauritius. A regulator is a government body that sets rules for firms like Clarity and checks they follow them. Further licence applications are in progress. Client money is held in segregated accounts, kept legally separate from Clarity's own. The regulation page and the segregated funds page have the details.

Trading CFDs on a live account puts your capital at risk and you can lose money. A demo does not.

CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 80% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs.
